Lionel Loueke is one of the most prolific and original jazz guitarists on this planet. The Benin-born world citizen has been praised by his mentor Herbie Hancock as "a musical painter". Sting calls him "one of the most original, essential and inspiring musicians", and also Chick Corea or Quincy Jones talk in glowing terms of the blue note artist.
Paul Simon describes Lionel as "moving effortlessly between his West African roots and modern American Jazz". His unique, multi-faceted and experimental playing style has earned him a worldwide reputation and multiple awards. Lionel has been working with well-known musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Sting, Marcus Miller, Terence Branchard, Charlie Haden, Gretchen Parlato, Richard Bona, Dianne Reeves, and many more. He has most notably been touring with Herbie Hancock for over 15 years.
We are very proud to have equipped Lionel with a Custom Walnut Jane with Super 5-Way Switch, Bare Knuckle Emerald and Seymour Duncan Jazz Pickups for his upcoming world tour with Herbie Hancock. Lionel is also teaching at the Musik Akademie Basel Jazzcampus, strenghtening his Swiss guitar connection even more.
